With the bad economy, and lower miles,  it is necessary to reduce the food bill.   Let's share some tips or tricks that we have found.

ie:     at the grocery store,  I find ready made meat and veggie dishes in the frozen section for about $5.    Divide it in half,  cooking one portion a day in the Burton Stove-to-go,   and two dinners with real flavor are now affordable.

Sometimes when I need a quick and simple meal I get a bag of Frito's and a can of chili. Warm the chili, mix it with the Frito's and I've got myself a simple warm meal.

Hot dogs are about as quick and simple as it gets.

I'll use the leftover chili the next day over a hot dog for a chili-dog.

Get a pack of American cheese and keep in your fridge. When you eat at a fast food order a hamburger instead of a cheese burger and add your own slice of cheese. The savings will add up more than you'd think! What they charge for a slice of cheese is ridiculous.

Mac and cheese is always a cheep meal and filing meal. Add some tuna, or other meat or veggi (frozen or canned) for added flavor.

Pasta with Alfredo sauce or butter also makes for a good inexpensive meal.

Get a crock pot cook book or search the internet for crook pot recipes. They will cook in a Burton quite nicely, taste delicious, and best of all, it's the dump method of cooking. You put all the ingredients in a oven bag, put it in the Burton and drive. That evening you've got yourself a delicious meal and leftovers for later!

MMMMMMMM Chili and Frito's with a couple shots of Tabasco.
I think I'll add that to the grocery list today...

Sounds like my ex wife's cooking, except I don't think even a couple shots of tequila would have helped her cooking. Put it this way. She made me some chili one night. By her own admission it didn't come out right so we gave it to the dogs. Out of 5 dogs, not one of them would even take a single bite let alone eat it. That's pretty bad when the dogs won't eat your wife's cooking.
